Coimbra and Mondroha claim state runner-up at The Ojai

Ventura's No. 1 doubles team of Caua Coimbra and Abjadj Mondroha claimed the runner-up spot in the 3C2A State Championships Sunday at The Ojai Tournament. The pair won their semifinal match in the morning before falling in a close battle in the championship match in the afternoon at Libby Park in Ojai.

Coimbra and Mondroha advance to State Final Four in doubles

Ventura's doubles top doubles pair of Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha extended their season Saturday with a solid 6-3, 6-3 win in the 3C2A State Championships quarterfinal round over a pair from Irvine Valley. They advance to the State Final Four on the final day of The Ojai Tournament SUnday Apr. 26.

Coimbra and Mondroha advance to state quarterfinals

VC's doubles team of Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 3C2A State Championships in play Friday in The Ojai Tournament. MEanwhile, Victor Peyrebonne and Shingo Ono moved forward to the Round of 32 before being eliminated in doubles while Peyrebonne and Coimbra each played into the Round of 32 in the singles draw.

VC moves 3 singles players and 2 doubles teams forward at Ojai

The Ventura College men's tennis team had several move past Day 1 of the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament in play Thursday. Caua Coimbra, Abladj Mondroha and Victor Peyrebonne all advanced in the draw in singles while the doubles pairs of Coimbra and Mondroha, and Peyrebonne and Shingo Ono also moved past the first day of the state championships.

Pirate Tennis Fallsi in SoCal Semifinals

The VC men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision Tuesday in the 3C2A Southern California Playoffs at Irvine Valley. The Pirate doubles teams of Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha, and Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme each dropped close matches while Victor Peyrebonne and Guerrout were each up in their singles matches when the Lasers clinched the regional semifinal win.

Pirate freshman Shingo Ono won with Victor Peyrebonne in No. 2 doubles and clinched a VC win with his triumph in No. 6 singles as Ventura defeated San Diego 5-1 Tuesday in the 3C2A SoCal Regionals.
Men's Tennis Advances in SoCal Playoffs

The Ventura College men's tennis team advanced in the 3C2A Southern California Playoffs Tuesday with a 5-1 victory over San Diego City at the VC Tennis Center. Shingo Ono won in No. 2 doubles with partner Victor Peyrebonne and clinched the match with his win on Court 6 in singles play. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme also won in doubles with Cotti-Helme and Yusen Sato producing victories in singles.

VC Men Earn No. 4 seed in SoCal Regionals

The Pirates' men's tennis team has earned the No. 4 seed in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. Ventura, led by singles and doubles state qualifier Victor Peyrebonne, will host No. 5 San Diego City on Tuesday Apr. 7 at the VC Tennis Center at 2:00 pm.

Peyrebonne leads Five in Singles and One Doubles Team to State

Ventura's Victor Peyrebonne had a solid week at the Western State Conference Championships at the VC Tennis Center. The first-year Pirate advanced to the 3C2A State Championships in singles and moved to state in doubles with teammate Shingo Ono in play Thursday through Saturday. Caua Coimbra, Abladj Mondroha, Yusen Sato and Ariitea Cotti-Helme also moved forward in singles to the state championships to be hosted at The Ojai Tournament later this month.

Men's Tennis Begins Play in WSC Championships

The VC men's tennis team began play in the Western State Conference Championships Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Abladj Mondroha, Victor Peyrebonne, Yusen Sato, Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme all produced victories in the opening round of the 32-player draw. Caua Coimbra received a first-round bye to also move to the Round of 16 to be played Thursday.

Men's Tennis Falls in Regular-Season Finale

The VC men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision at Glendale Thursday in the Pirates' regular season finale. Victor Peyrebonne was Ventura's lone double-winner, earning a point in No. 2 doubles with Shingo Ono and capturing his No. 3 singles match. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme also won singles contests for the Pirates.

Men's Tennis Drops WSC Match at Bakersfield

For the first time since 2019, the Pirates' men's tennis team dropped a Western State Conference match Tuesday, falling at Bakersfield 5-4. The Renegades ended VC's 35-match winning streak despite a strong day from Victor Peyrebonne who won in No. 3 doubles with Shingo Ono and in No. 4 singles.

Ventura Takes Two at North/South Challenge to Retain Phister Cup

The VC men's tennis team completed a three match sweep at the North/South Challenge in Bakersfield with a pair of wins Saturday to retain the Hank Phister Cup. The Pirates shut out Porterville 9-0 in the morning before defeating Fresno 8-1 in the afternoon to secure three wins on the weekend. Manolo Vanbesien and Antonio Cardiel each earned four victories on the day, two each in singles play and two as teammates in doubles competition.

Pirates Defeat NorCal No. 1 in North/South Challenge

The VC men's tennis team defeated the top-ranked team from Northern California Friday, posting a 6-3 win over Chabot in the North/South Challenge in Bakersfield. The Pirates trailed 3-1 in the match before making a furious comeback in singles play, with Ariitea Cotti-Helme clinching the victory with a come-from-behind three-set win on Court 4.

Men's Tennis Continues WSC Roll with Win Over GCC

The Ventura College men's tennis team continued to roll over Western State Conference competition Thursday with a 7-2 win over Glendale at the VC Tennis Center. VC's No. 1 player Caua Coimbra was a douoble winner, leading the way with a triumph in the top doubles match with Abladj Mondroha and with a win in No. 1 singles. Mondroha, Shingo Ono and Victor Pryrebonne were also double-winners on the day.

Pirates Cruise Past Santa Barbara

The Pirates' men's tennis team cruised past Santa Barbara 8-1 Tuesday afternoon, their second victory over the Vaqueros in five days. Shingo Ono was one of five double-winners on the day for Ventura, winning in No. 3 doubles with Victor Peyrebonne and recording a solid victory in No. 5 singles. Caua Coimbra, Abladj Mondroha , Ariitea Cotti-Helme and Peyrebonne were the other players with two victories Tuesday.

Men's Tennis Drops Close Match Against Menlo

The VC men's tennis team traveled to Avila Beach Sunday to take on Menlo College, falling to the NCAA Division II squad, 4-3. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme won the No. 2 double smatch while Victor Peyrebonne, Abladj Mondroha and Manolo Vanbesien all recorded singles victories for the Pirates.
